GEORGE CROCKER, PHD | DIRECTOR
George received his PhD in Molecular, Cellular and Integrative Physiology from UC Davis. He then became a lecturer and a post-doctoral researcher at Cal State San Marcos. In 2016, George came to Cal State LA as an assistant professor at the School of Kinesiology. In 2018, he established the Swim Performance Lab and serves as its director. In this role, George initiated swim-specific research at Cal State LA, allowing him to align his enthusiasm for training with his dedication to sound scientific research in the sports of swimming and triathlon. In 2022, George was promoted to associate professor.
Aside from research in swimming, George has researched and published in the fields of environmental physiology, human-computer interfaces and surfing. He has recently expanded his research agenda that now includes cold-water immersion, heart rate variability and hydration studies. George has a background in swimming and triathlon - competing collegiately at UC Santa Cruz from 2001-2005 and completing Ironman Lake Tahoe in 2013. He currently swims with the Rose Bowl Masters Swim Team. George is also an avid tennis and beach volleyball player.
